    Research lines

    The Sanquin blood bank Sourth-West has two research facailities, one at Leiden and one at Dordrecht.
    The facility at Leiden works in collaboration with several departments of the Leiden University Medical Centre (LUMC): The research programme is concentrated around three related themes: Photo Dynamic Treatment, Haematopoietic Stem Cells and Evidence-based Improvement of Transfusion Therapy, in all three themes with emphasis on immunological aspects.

    The department Research & Education at Dordrecht has been involved in a variety of R&D-activities in the past year. Current research lines involve immunohaematology, effects of blood transfusion and research on the development of new blood.
