Sanquin Research
Sanquin Research carries out applied research aimed at the development/improvement of cellular blood products and plasma products. Our plasma products are fractionated at our own facilities in Amsterdam and Brussels. Both basic and applied research is carried out in the fields of:

- Stem Cell Research
- Cellular & Immune Therapy
- Cell Biology
- Biochemistry
- Bacteriology
- Epidemiology
Much of our practical traing is also part of the education programme of the University of Amsterdam.

Sanquin Diagnostic Services
Sanquin Diagnostic Services is a reference institute for both hospitals and blood banks. It develops new tests and therefore closely cooperates with external partners like (academic) hospitals, universities and other knowledge institutes. This division specializes in research which mainly focuses on manual testing.
Diagnostic Services is active in the field of:
- Transfusion Research
- Immunological Disorders (allergy & auto-immune diseases)
- Blood Coagulation
- Haematological Disorders (leukaemia, haemochromatoses)
- Blood Transmitted Diseases (hepatitis B/C en HIV)
- Development of new diagnostic tests
