Since 1959 Sanquin at CLB posseses an art collection. Sanquin was the first company to have such an art collection. Joghem van Loghem (scientific director from 1950 until 1978) started collecting art for CLB. He was convinced there is an interaction between art en science. Art in the laboratory had to be inspiring. Gallery Joghem Van Loghem's work has been carried on by an Art Committee, that was founded in 1985. Every month the Art Committee organises an exhibition in the gallery which bears Van Loghem's name: Gallery Joghem. The gallery works on a non-profit basis and the artists do not have to transfer any part of their revenues. Sanquin regularly buys works of art from these exhibitions.
